A land layered with history
Palestine is soaked in the history of the Prophets, and a well-planned trip lets you feel that rather than tick sites off a list. Beyond Al-Aqsa and the Old City, a Holy Land itinerary can take in Bethlehem and the Church of the Nativity, Jericho — among the oldest continuously inhabited cities anywhere — and the Dead Sea, the lowest point on earth, where the mineral-heavy water holds you up whether you like it or not.
It is also a living place, not a museum. Ramallah has markets, galleries and some of the best food you will eat on the trip. Our guides are as comfortable explaining the present as the past, which is what most travellers actually want by day three.
What a typical itinerary covers
Jerusalem — Masjid al-Aqsa and the Dome of the Rock, the Old City quarters, and the wider sites that make the city sacred to Muslims, Christians and Jews alike.
Bethlehem — the Church of the Nativity and the old town, an easy addition from Jerusalem.
Hebron — the Ibrahimi Mosque, resting place of Prophet Ibrahim ﷺ, for itineraries with the time to include it.
Jericho — ancient ruins, the Mount of Temptation and the Jordan Valley.
Dead Sea — floating, mineral mud and the desert landscape around it, usually as a half-day.
